What a ticket costs right now, what changed this summer, and why most sites still quote the old prices.
What a ticket costs today
All of Gothenburg is in Västtrafik zone A. A single is 38 kr (29 kr youth), valid 90 minutes with free transfers on trams, buses, ferries and commuter trains. A 30-day ticket is 445 kr — half price since 1 July 2026 — and 305 kr if you are registered as living in the city.
Prices here are checked against Västtrafik and carry the date they changed. This page exists because they moved twice in five weeks and most guides never caught up.
The changes, dated and sourced
Every 30-day ticket is half price — for now
The Swedish government is funding a temporary cut on 30-day period tickets, and Västtrafik passed it straight through. A zone A 30-day costs 445 kr for an adult and 335 kr for youth, instead of 890 and 670. Zone AB is 667/500 and zone ABC 1,020/765. If you are registered as living in the City of Gothenburg, the city subsidy takes the zone A adult ticket down to 305 kr in the Västtrafik To Go app. What it means for you: it applies to everyone, not only residents — a month of travel now costs about as much as twelve single tickets. It is temporary: the state support covers travel to the end of the year, and the last purchase date is to be announced after the summer. Single tickets, day tickets, senior and summer tickets are not included.

Fares went up about 3 % across the board
The single ticket went from 37 to 38 kr and the adult 30-day from 860 to 890 kr — the figure that the July halving then cut to 445. What it means for you: a zone A single is 38 kr for adults and 29 kr for youth, valid 90 minutes with free transfers; two zones 76 kr and three 114 kr, valid 180 minutes.

The Gothenburg residents' subsidy
The City of Gothenburg funds a fixed discount per ticket on period tickets bought in the Västtrafik To Go app, for people folkbokförda in Gothenburg. It survived the June price rise unchanged and stacks on top of the July halving. What it means for you: it is not a tourist discount — it needs a Swedish personal number registered in the municipality.

Why other sites give different prices
Prices in Gothenburg moved twice in five weeks, so most of what you will read is out of date. Here is what separates the versions.
- «890 kr» versus «445 kr» for 30 days. 890 was right between 9 June and 30 June 2026. Since 1 July every 30-day ticket is half price. This site said 890 until August 2026.
- «445 kr is the Gothenburg residents' price». Not any more — 445 is what everyone pays. Residents pay 305 kr.
- «37 kr» for a single. That was the price until 8 June 2026. It is 38 kr now.
- Exact first and last trams per stop. Västtrafik publishes departures in its journey planner and app rather than as a stop-by-stop table, so the times you see quoted around the web — including the approximate ones here — are network-level. For a specific departure, use the To Go app.
- Live departures. Västtrafik's open API needs a key we do not have yet, so nothing on this site is labelled live. The real-time displays at the stops and the app are the reliable sources.
